Abacus Counting Frame

This counting frame combines a classic abacus with hands-on bead work for early number practice. The square 23 x 23 cm format holds 100 wooden beads on 10 metal rods, so quantities can be arranged, regrouped and compared at a glance. The frame made from birch wood and MDF provides a stable base, while the brightly painted beads form clearly separated rows. Colours can be sorted, and changes from one side to the other are easy to follow. Every movement happens directly on the rods: beads are pushed by hand, rows are split into smaller groups, and simple addition or subtraction steps can be made visible one at a time – rather than just explained verbally. This direct link between movement and result supports concentration and makes counting sequences easy to understand. Whether on a table, a shelf or in a play corner, the abacus suits short practice sessions as well as free play with colours and quantities. Recommended age: 3+.
