Threading Game

This threading game brings together 13 birch wood pieces in different shapes for a compact activity centred on direct hand movements and clear, repeatable sequences. Each piece is picked up individually, keeping the focus entirely on grasping, guiding and placing – with no rushed moves or complicated rules. The varied shapes encourage forming different sequences and aligning each piece with care. The birch wood feels smooth and firm in the hand, and the 13-piece set is easy to reset and play through again and again. Suitable from age 3, the simple act of threading supports first steps in coordination, control and visual attention through concrete movement. Whether at a table, on the floor or as a quiet activity between livelier play sessions, the threading game suits short practice rounds just as well as longer sorting and shape play. The pieces can be rearranged, compared and threaded in a different order every time.
